AccessPrivacy Submission to the OPC re: the Development of a Children's Privacy Code

An exploratory public consultation has been commenced by the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC) to solicit stakeholder input on the OPC's development of a Canadian children's privacy code.

On July 25th, AccessPrivacy hosted an interactive workshop designed to assist organizations and trade associations in understanding the development process, application and impact of a potential code, and in framing their own submissions for the OPC’s consultation.

The workshop featured Adam KardashÉloïse GrattonJoanna Fine (Partners in Osler's Privacy and Data Management Team), and Natascha Gerlach (Director of Privacy & Data Policy at the Centre for Information Policy Leadership). Over 130 Chief Privacy Officers, Senior Counsel and privacy professionals across a breadth of industry sectors attended the workshop, including representatives from retail, health, banking, telecommunications, trade associations, and other public and private sector organizations.

The AccessPrivacy team was pleased to share the recording of the workshop for the OPC's consideration as part of its consultation process, along with an explanatory cover letter setting out key themes and considerations raised during the session.
