New International Cooperation Arrangement and Monthly Call Reminder

October 17, 2014

The Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC)  announced yesterday that international data protection authorities have endorsed a  Global Cross Border Enforcement Cooperation Arrangement.  In its news release, the OPC states that the "arrangement sets out ground rules for the sharing of confidential information related to enforcement work.  For example, it could enable several data protection authorities to work together to respond to a major data breach aimed at fostering more coordinated approaches to addressing cross-border privacy issues."

We will be discussing this development on the October Monthly Privacy Call scheduled for Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at 11:30 am Eastern Daylight Time.

PLEASE NOTE that even though you are receiving reminders about our Monthly Privacy Calls, if you wish to attend, you must register for this call (and each future call).  As always, the calls are free of charge.  So, if you haven't already done so, please:

Register for October's Monthly Privacy Call

In addition to the Global Cross Border Enforcement Cooperation Arrangement, the agenda for the October Monthly Call will include, among other things, an update on Canada's anti-spam legislation and the status of amendments to the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act.
