The Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC) released the findings of their investigation into the personal information practices of the mobile application developer, WhatsApp Inc., developer of a popular mobile messaging app WhatsApp.  The allegations related to alleged violations of the requirements of the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act concerning (i) consent, (ii) limiting collection, (iii) use and retention, and (iv) safeguarding related to the several mobile app-based functions.
