The Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission released guidance today on the installation of computer programs under Canada's anti-spam legislation (CASL). Notably, the guidance sets out when the Act applies to the installation of computer programs and states that "self-installed software is not covered under CASL".

Industry Canada has published its revised draft regulations to Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation ("CASL").  The revised draft Electronic Commerce Protection Regulations ("IC Regulations") are intended to address concerns raised by stakeholders following the release of the original draft regulations in July 2011.

Industry Canada's revised regulations to Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) will be published in the Canada Gazette tomorrow.  Organizations will be provided with an opportunity to comment on the regulations as part of a formal consultation process.
